A new worm spoofs Microsoft's "Genuine Advantage" program to entice users into becoming infected.
The Cuebot-K worm spreads through instant messenger, and, disguised as a Windows Genuine Advantage application, confuses users into running the executable. The worm tells users that their PCs will become unstable if it is removed - when in fact all it does is open the system to hackers for use in a botnet.
Altravision recommends, of course, that for business users, access to services such as Instant Messenger be assessed carefully. Up-to-date AV subscriptions will probably also help!
